Marvel Fans Find Hidden ‘Ant-Man’ on New Infinity War Poster

A brand-new Avengers: Infinity War poster may finally have brought Ant-Man into the marketing – as an Easter egg. While the hype for Avengers 3 is at a fever-pitch with the movie mere weeks away, some fans still have an issue or two with the marketing so far. There have been plenty of trailers, TV spots, and posters for the upcoming Marvel film, but a number of key characters have been absent from all the promotion so far. In fact, fans have had to resort to making their own art, like a poster featuring some missing Avengers.

While minor characters like Valkyrie haven’t been seen yet and others like Nebula have their own character poster but aren’t in any trailers, some key players are still AWOL. Hawkeye’s absence has garnered the most attention, as the founding Avenger hasn’t been seen since set photos for the film popped up online last year. But Ant-Man has been missing as well, despite early evidence that he would be in the new film. At this point, it seems clear that Ant-Man & The Wasp is set before Avengers: Infinity War, but Scott Lang still may show up in this month’s movie.

Yesterday, IMAX released an Avengers: Infinity War poster that’s said to feature hidden logos (ie. the company’s name) throughout the poster. While that particular Easter egg hunt was hardly a rousing one, intrepid fans think they may have found something even better: Ant-Man. A number of die-hards noticed something unusual on Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet, which artist BossLogic helpfully illustrated in a recent Instagram post.

Seen this floating around, @imax.movies fill us in? 😀 #infinitywar #antman

While Hawkeye is clearly not in any of the marketing we’ve seen so far, Ant-Man’s nature means fans have long been looking for the miniature Avenger whenever a new poster drops. There are certainly plenty of raised portions of Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet that could cause a simple optical illusion, but zooming in on the image does seem to show quite an irregular mass. And given that the poster in question was said to contain Easter eggs, it certainly seems like the place to feature the character.

On the other hand (some pun intended), Marvel has deliberately kept Ant-Man out of the marketing for Avengers: Infinity War. While having him arrive in an Easter egg is fun, it does seem like a strange way to finally confirm the character is in the film. The issue with Ant-Man & The Wasp being a slight prequel means Scott’s appearance in Avengers 3 would have to avoid any mention of the events of his solo film which won’t arrive until July. It’s a confusing situation, especially given the MCU’s notoriously obtuse timeline. But with Avengers: Infinity War right around the corner, we won’t have to wait much longer to know what’s really going on.
